The US and AIDS in Africa by fiordhraoi2003-02-13 09:45:20
  Interesting. by Tran 2003-02-13 12:01:05
but a nit pick first. Ghana is in Africa. Guyana is in South america.
I recently read an article that talked about the AIDS crisis in Africa and how it will have/could have a devastating economic effect on the US? and the world if not reigned in. Was an interestign article. I havd enver thougth about the ramifications of AIDS in Africa in those terms before, but maybe the seriousness of this is being recognized.

IMO I would never have thought that the Bush administration would pay notice to this and I was very surprised this came up in Bush's SoU address. But i guess anything that could affect the economy negatively is being scrutinized. I do not recall what the link was between teh US economy and the African AIDS crises but it made sense... I will see if i can dig up the article online - though i read it in print ( fairly left newspaper - Providence Phoenix - may have been co-printed in ther in the Boston Phoenix as well) soemtime in the last 6 weeks.
