Well unofficially we have a two level system by Arienadean 2003-02-13 08:42:48
some joke the second level is if you've got money you head to the US for faster service. However actually while we have socialized medical care(and having a med card in bc is manditory and most qualify for some subsidy but rich of course don't, etc so pay full rates) there is also privatized. The privatized is stuff we get via work(or in my case pension/disabilty benifits... though that has it's limitations vs work or something you privately go for). What the "extra" medical covers is private rooms, tv's, medications(or covers more than what is basic coverage), etc. Basically it's little perks over basic services and typically includes dental and vision care.(reduced costs for getting glasses and vision exams, and a precentage of dental paid for or subsidized) With things that are wait listed here typically there are say CT and MRI machines that are actually privatized or also do take privatized... or coverage of some costs if out of province in another country or province.
