because I'm disabled I'd get an extra 25% off my insurance if I chose to apply for the disability discount. With my 4 yrs safe driving that is another 40% off it's 65% off the full price re car insurance. But cars are pricy for upkeep and with my muscle issues I can't trust I'd always be well enough to safely drive. So I don't bother. Before tho with just my 4 yrs safe driving I was able to get insurance for my 88 ford taurus GL for $265/3 months... and that is considered cheap. A bus pass here for 3 zones(all of lower mainland of bc) is $1200/yr (less than manys insurance). But I get the disabled pass which is only $45 a year for unlimited travel in 3 zones. :) But yes outside of north america gas prices are horrid. I've seen shows on the prices in the UK which they blame on a tax to help social programs. People often take things for granted or regard them as expensive when their is an increase because to them it might validly be so however they have no experience with life in the rest of the world otherwise they'd either consider themselves lucky or consider the others such... Btw are fast food prices heck in aus? I hear it's quite expensive in the UK compared to here and what they offer menu wise is quite diffrent as well. I'm assuming one thing tho re aus. As they like us here are commonwealth we share somethings with the UK at least from our early roots tho of course we are also diffrent from the UK... But I think the taxes and social programs are probably all similar throughout commonwealth nations. Though with us we have a variety of natural resources here which makes our prices a little less.
