Tobacco Ads Almost Banned! by Tomo2006-11-19 12:55:59
Good thing too, just don't push it too far by nibbler 2003-02-13 06:34:00
I am a smoker.
Advertising had nothing to do with that, it were friends that started it.
When I started I knew what it did.
For this reason I think most smokers that complain nowadays are just after money, or realy realy stupid.
I know what smoking does to me and if that means I have to pay extra for health insurance, so be it (not yet here, but I support it).

I know the tabacco industry has made false statements concerning health issues in the past, but only a fool would have believed it then....
It's the same thing as some american sueing fastfood restaurants because he got fat from their food... He claims that he didn't know the food was bad for him because the nutricious values were not on big signs in the restaurant. Newsflash, neither are then in any restaurant here...and besides that, THINK. Everybody knows/knew that fastfood is bad for your diet.

Same goes with smoking, everyone knows it's bad, so if you light up, pay up for your insurance too...
So why go after the manufacturers of tabacco for something you willingly did?

To get back to the original statement, I do think banning advertisement is a good adea, it will prevent a small group of people from smoking, but only a little group.
