Those people, if they're not stupid, will learn and be wonderful users in the future. However, stupidity is incurable. You want one too ? We had once an Oracle Admin for a customer site emailing our Oracle Admin asking: "There is a folder c:\oracle\oradata on DB server with .DBF files of several gigabytes. What are they for and can I delete them ?" 'nuf said. Another story from the same Admin. A colleague of mine typed "stty erase ^?" on the DB server. But he mistyped it as "s tty...". He discovered that there WAS a script named "s" in oracle/bin that shut down all databases in the system. Great. The guy went to the Oracle Admin and told him it might not be a good idea to have script named "s" with such effect... The DBA did: cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin rm s* Not "rm s" nor "mv s shut_all_db". rm s* in $ORACLE_HOME/bin... 'nuf said.
