Ignorance is not a problem as long as you don't pretend to know.
Lots of people that don't know are willing to learn. Those people, if they're not stupid, will learn and be wonderful users in the future.

However, stupidity is incurable.

You want one too ?
We had once an Oracle Admin for a customer site emailing our Oracle Admin asking: "There is a folder c:\oracle\oradata on DB server with .DBF files of several gigabytes. What are they for and can I delete them ?"

'nuf said.

Another story from the same Admin. A colleague of mine typed "stty erase ^?" on the DB server. But he mistyped it as "s tty...". He discovered that there WAS a script named "s" in oracle/bin that shut down all databases in the system. Great.
The guy went to the Oracle Admin and told him it might not be a good idea to have script named "s" with such effect...
The DBA did:
cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
rm s*

Not "rm s" nor "mv s shut_all_db". rm s* in $ORACLE_HOME/bin...
