Any chance you have left a floppy or CD somewhere that your PC is trying to boot instead of the harddisk ?

Another question: is your harddisk the master drive on the first/primary IDE controller ? If it is (and it seems it is), then your lilo.conf is correct. However since you also have a correct partition table with the /boot partition marked active you could try changing "boot=/dev/hda" to "boot=/dev/hda1" and add "disk=/dev/hda" to the lilo.conf to see if that works. In this case the lilo boot sector gets written to the beginning of the /boot partition (helps if you can't write a MBR for some bizarre reason.
