(I just did this recently w/Slackware) is zero-write your MBR (dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mbr) just to make sure it is rid of Windows remnants. Then, run fdisk again, and redo the partitions, not bothering with a boot partition (just / and swap). Then reinstall Linux, and when it asks where you want to put LILO, tell it to put it in the MBR. It's probably not the "best" way to do things, but it should work. It worked for me at least....
