2k has quite a few issues with gaming and some multimedia stuff. I could be wrong... I do a lot with my system that involves multimedia and gaming. Also, I need to make sure I can run apps compatible with what my university has in their labs. Since I am no longer in CS I don't get to play in the unix labs any more.
