I need some windows networking help... by randomman2003-02-09 10:43:49

    Alrighty... by randomman 2003-02-09 11:02:01
I can use unix, I've helped set up linux networks, but haven't done it alone. I put in on the 95 machine I was testing the setup with: IP 192.168.10.1 Subnet 255.255.255.0 I don't recall what I had in for the gateway. I checked the settings through something similar, it did indeed accept them, but there seems to be zero communication between my various boxen. (I tried ping in case the windows apps were just being a pain.)

The "can't see each other" means they are connected to the hub and communicating with it (i.e. the lights flash on the hub as data is sent). I know the hub works since I can get it working fine with multiple XP machines.

In theory, the XP machines should not need settings as they should set themselves up. The first one the wizard is run on should in fact be functioning as the server for the network.

Anything else?
