I need some windows networking help... by randomman 2003-02-09 10:43:49
I've tried online guides and the help files. Nothing has availed me. Unfotunately, I am presently trying to network 95, 98, and XP. According to my sources, these should play nice.

I don't like the idea of dynamic allocation since it eats more resources. The guides tell me that all I need to do is specify: subnet mask, IP, and gateway on the 95 machines. The XP I should run the networking wizard after setting up the others and connecting them. The wizard should also be run on 98.

It doesn't work... none of them can find each other. I am using an Intel Business hub. It's not my first choice, but it was free and I have no cash to spare.

I could use some help here if any of you know how to do this. Switching to linux isn't an option because part of what this network is for is gaming. Linux doesn't have enough options. Thanks!
