I've run into some of these issues, maybe this will help, but keep in mind the security risk, and cut it off again as soon as possible. One item is that both have to have file and printer sharing turned on. Sounds obvious, but it's not automatic, so check. If that is on, what I have found is that I have to connect to the other box as "administrator" and using the same password! There should be ways around this, but I never needed to find them so I never did. ymmv
