On another note about FTP by Freakazoid2003-02-06 14:17:12
they can ping each other by Control 2003-02-06 14:31:14
if I ping directly to the IP of the other. I guess this means that the ping is going out to my ISP, and back to my other box. I cannot ping them if I ping to the name of the box (maybe this is normal). FTP works fine for both of them (for example from home to Uni), but is limited to my slow 512KBit connection. Moving several GB takes days that way. Both boxes have 100MBit Cards, and I want to use that speed if possible.

Taking both boxes off the net for the duration of the transfer would be perfectly acceptable, but even if I connect them directly via cat5, the problem persists.
