I don't think he's putting her down for being old. I get the distinct impression that he would be glad to have her if she were nicer. I also read that her own stubbornness caused her accident, and the continuing stubbornness is causing a huge financial problem. Not to mention her nasty selfishness created a dearth of helpful family members. You seem to think "Reap what you sow" doesn't apply to old people. Why is that?
