| I got a windows laptop (800 MHz, 512 MB RAM) I and working with for about 4 months, and my PC (550 Mhz, 384 MB RAM).
The laptop has Windows 98, and was running Opera 6.05 (need to upgrade) with 2 windows opened, MSN messenger, Norton Antivirus2002 (background, not scanning), PGPtray (from PGP8.0), and when I tried to open another Opera window, it said "Windows hasn't got enough resources ...(bla, bla)...Close some windows so you can open some more (I don't want to close my windows! If they were useless, I would reuse them!)
Now, the PC has boot with Linux (RedHat7.3, kernel 2.4.19 compiled), and was running a kernel compilation, Opera 6.something with about 10 windows opened, 2 Mozilla instances (uggh too many DBMS), XMMS, JBuilder, Kate, 3 Apaches (with about 50 hits /minute each), downloading at 25 KB/s, and burning some ISOS, and nothing crashed and I could listen to the MP3 perfectly!!
I can't believe Windows hates me so much. My only explantion is this (here in Spanish)
PD: I've defragged the laptop this morning, and there is no virus there, as I've finished installing everything this afternoon (about 3 hours ago) and didn't connected to the net until 20 minutes ago, so no viruses either (i hope) |
