I think the spiders just got smarter as it's a more common practice to now stick "at" or "dot" in the email addresses to avoid spiders getting them. UF does get some spiders crawling it despite trying to avoid them. I've learn to say things like "my id here" at "yahoo" though I think kickstarts latest usage of doing it backwards might work... or adding a .net or .org or it or like to the end of it might also help ward off bots. I get very very little spam to my broadband accounts(first off I think they filter but generally I don't post those publicly)... and my email that I actually use for e-cards is the least spammed... If you look though at Wil Wheatons page he mentioned reciently that Yahoo uses beacons on people now and most don't realize it.(though you can opt out of it) And I've also found spiders crawl their profile database and assume all with one have emails.

The general rule though I've learned is use web based mail for public email and my regular for private. Webbased has some filtering as well..<shrug> I do use my broad band email based addresses for several email lists but those are afik immune to the spiders that crawl the web.
