You know, they may have been trying to pull a joke that just didn't come across right at all. It was an extremely tasteless thing to do, but rather than smiting someone into oblivion for this, they should deserve a second chance. It's unfair to smite someone for something that, though stupid and tasteless, wasn't warned against.
If every time one of my jokes went astray I was kicked out of that group of friends, I wouldn't have a whole lotta friends left. Kickstart is doing the right thing - giving the violator a second chance, and warning everyone against repeating the mistake.
