if you include time as a dimension it makes the math work, we travel along this dimension in a direction determined by entropy, i.e. positive time flow is defined as increaseing entropy. You should really read A brief history of time :-) All this has changed slightly with the new super-string theories which now use 29D space, where several of the dimensions are "curled-up" and are not actualy percievable by us.
