A larger omnidirectional antenna, mounted outside with either LMR400 or LMR600 coaxial cable, should give you more than enough range for the access point - on one of our networks that we maintain, the access point has a 24Db omni with an 12Db amplifier, and it's able to reach out over 4-5 miles to a customer with an 18Db directional and 12Db amp.

All of Linksys' access points and their wireless bridges use a standard TNC connector for the antenna, so it shouldn't be a huge thing to get what you need - 802.11b and g both use the 2.4GHz band, so you don't need anything special there.
