It's their auto-generated config file, because the one Debian generated looked like crud and didn't give a usable display... the middle button works (it's how I pasted that snippet in) so I'm not gunna mess with it... and yeah, now I think about it, I was probably suffering from "package overload" when I saw gpm and thought "that looks nifty"...
