No one here has 802.11a so there's no reason to support that... and 802.11g supports 802.11b by default, and is less expensive than a, either alone or in a dual system.
If I'm understanding correctly, any antennas and the like would work the same for g as for b, because they're the same frequencies, just utilize different ways of chopping up data and putting it back together.
We're trying to keep this as inexpensive as possible (as I note in my blog, we're probably not going to be recovering the equipment costs for quite some time), and to not go too much farther than we need to to give everyone here access.
It sounds like we can do the new Linksys 802.11g wireless broadband router (http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=35&prid=508) but would need some kind of antenna and possibly a signal booster or amplifier. |
