Debate topic of the day: by slayer2003-01-19 03:48:34
Given the military power owned by goverments ATM by Tomo2003-01-19 05:18:43
Wrong. ANY country can have a successful revolt, by adiplomat 2003-01-19 10:28:02
no matter HOW well armed it's government is. An army must eat, sleep, "create sewage"... When enough of the people feel strongly enough, said army will be doing NONE of those things without severe effort and risk.

The trick is getting enough people to fall in with you. Most will respond to the government's threats and/or use of force until conditions are so bad that the rebellion is as good a choice as any. Study the Warsaw Ghetto Revolt for insights. (If you can stomach it.)

The U.S. is both capable of revolt, and isn't more than a decade away at the current rate of decay. My worry is that if it becomes inevitable, the corporations will co-opt it, and afterwards things will be worse than ever!
