The single most important objective is to gain support from the unwashed masses, then you have 'agents' within the military, the industrial sector, the government departments, judicial systems, hey, you name it, the masses work there.
Once you have their support, much like a cult, you gain materially. Food, money, goods and such are yours for the asking. If your supporters don't have it, they'll steal it for you, all for the greater good of course. I love revolutions.
