And you forget Microsoft's massive memory mismanagement blunders that have plagued Windows since version 3 (although seem to have gone again in the NT kernel)...GPF anyone? Several developers traced it to MS code, but MS never admitted it was their fault.

Yes, heat's a killer. But shoddy OS code is too.
(However, the NT kernel is a lot better.)
