I'm completely with all the comments so far on this. But, sometimes there is content I want to or must see, and it is encoded in Real format. (What "must" I see? I can think of a certain on-line education service that hosted professor lectures and such, and used a RealMedia streamer to do it. Anyone taking such a class on-line would have to have access to said content to pass the class.) What then?
I found a method for converting Real Audio files to .wav, but it involved installing Real anyway (the conversion program required the .dlls), so if the goal is just playing back media, it's pretty useless. (If the goal is to burn to a CD, then it's slightly less than useless.)
So, how does one get the content without dealing with their Patently Obfuscatory Software? |
