Home Internet Help needed by toxin 2003-01-13 13:05:00
Windows XP on a Toshiba Laptop (Celeron 1.7 Ghz)

Can't get onto the internet (usually). Receive 734 error or 732 error in most cases. Occasionally get on to the system. Those error indicate a PPP problem (according to MS) by the way.

Toshiba modem says that it is working fine. Called ISP (Sympatico) and had them work on the problem. We tried what they could do. They have left it saying that the modem is crapped out. This was after reference to the tech support supervisor.

Due to the distance between me and the nearest service location (just below the arctic circle / Toronto), I would like to know of some methods of finding this out without sending the computer on a multi-thousand km journey.
SUGGESTIONS please.
