Although the comparison between nations under UN vs. individuals under a nation is not exact, it is close enough for me to use it as simile.

Also, your example of obeying French laws while living in the US is more like stating that Martian nations aren't subject to UN jurisdiction. I never said they were.

However, to continue the simile, a Frenchman in the US is subject to US laws, just like you would be subject to French laws while visiting France.

You could try to use a gun to avoid punishment, but it would still be an act of anarchy - an act of defiance against legal authority.

However, you do bring up an interesting point. How about NK trading with other nations that aren't members of UN? I don't think it has been mentioned whether this is the case or not.

I would think that the UN would have no legitimate recourse against NK trading with non-UN members. Other than the simple one of just obliterating both, of course. But isn't the subject of discussion one of why that would be wrong, and an act of anarchy?

My understanding of the word 'anarchy' is 'a refusal to accept legal authority'. Do you have a better one?
