Any sort of detail like that I tend to repeat back, as well as at the end of the call, something like "so you want me to do this, that and the other."
It saves hanging up and then forgetting what it was they've just called about - if you've said what they've said to you out loud, then it's easier to remember. It also prevents any ambiguity in what they've said, and also reduces the chances of the occurence of the subsequent conversation, "I did that thing you asked, you know, this," closely followed by "I didn't ask you to do this! I said do THAT! Now the giant slug is going to explode and take out all the foreign dignitaries!" "Well I'm sorry, but I distinctly heard you say chocolate flavoured custard..." and so on. |
