It's very wrong if they're feeling either societal or peer pressure to jump into that mold without having a strong preference for it. It's difficult to resist societal pressure and even more so to resist peer pressure. Either way, individuals lose out. If the perfect mother is pressured to be in the workforce, her offspring suffer; if the perfect worker is pressured to be a homemaker, her offspring suffer. Pressure on either side results in the same thing: suffering offspring. The optimal situation is when there is CHOICE.
