Red Hat not sure it would support your camera as I'm sitting at my 7.3 machine at the office away from the home office. The home office has Red Hat 8.0 and I know it supports a lot of digital cameras.

For your palm pilot take a look at JPilot I use it with my Handspring Visor and it works quite well for me. Now for the DVD player issue. I believe you would like MPlayer. But you may have to recompile your kernel to get the graphics card to work. More information is available from the mplayer site and NVIDIA. You can check out a review of Red Hat 8.0 in my diary which will link you to some places to download software.

I can tell I'm going to have to re-write that review in case anyone is wondering. :-/
