Hi there! by JamesG2003-01-13 01:56:13

Mandrake is nice to set up... by excessive 2003-01-13 02:53:37
...it seems to do a good job of getting itself running most of the time. Theres a few minor oddities with the installer (Well, with the version 7.2 one, anyway. I had a dodgy source .iso for the second disc and it wasn't happy. Win 98 also corrupted my partition table (I'm guessing because the version of fdisk it had didn't understand the concept of an 80GB harddrive properly) but its graphical and seems to do the job.

Haven't had much experience of the other two although one thing to watch if you install Mandrake is to make sure you get Mandrake RPMs. Redhat have different places for the odd file here and there and this means the RPM install files have to be slightly different between Redhat and Mandrake for some programs (Notably things that start when you power up the box, although there are other things)
