Hi there! by JamesG2003-01-13 01:56:13
Well, I've asked a similar question before by Dazed 2003-01-13 02:03:03
and quite frankly all you're going to get is opinions. Contrary to rumour, there is no One True Operating System.

My best advice to you is to pick one rather randomly (or just use whichever one has the most "votes") and try it out on your system. If that doesn't work, install something else. All you will get from the board is what worked for each person's needs and on each person's configuration of hardware. The only way to find out which one *you* like the best is to take the time to play with a few and find it.

This is, of course, coming from someone who has desired Linux for almost a full year now and is still running Win 98. I apologize for the hypocracy. I can't afford (the time) to play around with OS's right now. I need a word processor that works a solid 78% of the time. ;)

Have a great day and welcome to the board!
