| ...and the thing that strikes me as odd about both is that Scott, for all of his good intentions, fails to observe that he's assuming he's an explorer in new territory, when in fact many others (some of my peers in the webcomic world whom I greatly respect) have already charted that part of the world. McCloud is more of an immigrant than a discoverer.
He also exists in a slightly different rulespace from most webtoonists -- he started off as a creator who sold shelf-product, and then moved to the web. The vast majority of webtoonists go the other way.
In short, what he talks about he expresses quite well, but it's certainly nothing new or groundbreaking. |
