You could easily just see if there was a pre-existing post from the same person, with the same subject & content. You might use part of the same code section, to cache the author and timestamp of 100 most recent posts, and keep anyone from ever 'flooding' the board with hundreds of garbage posts in an overnight raid that was scattered across all diarys and days... 40 minutes of coding now, could prevent a mess later, and keep you from deleting duplicate posts ever again.
