While I was doing my CD-RW testing, my virus checker automatic scanner kicked in. My burner was doing a quick erase at the time, and the software/hardware got locked in some sort of loop, and the erasure wouldn't end. so I had to do a hard reboot of my computer, and the CD-RW was destroyed in the process :( for those interested, I was up to 30 successful burns (with 30 quick erases) when the CD-RW was murdered by my virus scanner. The CD-RW had no problems at that point, and I would classify it as a safe buy.
It was bought from the "everything for a dollar store" in Metrotown, Burnaby B.C. Canada. Oddly enough, I paid $1.00 for it LOL! as I said before it was a HSCD-RW, capable of 4x-10x speeds (actually up to 12x) and it was 74min/650MB in capacity. I will attempt this test again at a later time, but am now moving on to CD-Rs. I'm testing two types. Maxell 80min/700MB 40x CD-Rs, and Smart Buy: The Write Stuff (32x 80min/700MB) CD-Rs. So far the maxell CD-Rs have done incredibly well, and currently are ranked "the best darn CD-Rs I've EVER seen, and I've seen a lot!" no other CD-R has attained this rank before LOL! but they ARE really good, and I would recommend them to anyone. I bought a ten pack of them from London Drugs for $8.99 plus tax and plus $0.21 each CD for the copyright levy. A very good deal really, given the test results. more info will follow when I have it...goodnight everyone! |
