Mathematical Induction by DennisMV2003-01-04 23:03:50
Three guys book into a hotel room by Dok 2003-01-04 23:11:23
which costs $30. They pay the landlord $10 each. Later the landlord realises that the room he gave them only costs $25. He calls the bellboy and gives him 5 x $1 notes to refund the guys with. Perplexed at how he is going to split the money between the 3 guys, the bellboy decides to givce them $1 each and keep the other $2 as a tip.

Here's the problem: Each man spent $9 on the room. 3x9=27 plus the $2 the bellboy kept = $29. What happened to the other dollar?

Not quite what you asked for, but figure it out anyway. (If you know the answer straight off then let others stew over it a bit!)
