I need the forum Christians/religous scholars by slayer 2003-01-04 16:38:33
to help me out on something. This is not a troll, but something I am curious about.

How does one reconcile the old Testament God with the New Testament account of Jesus?

The Old Testament God was wrathful and mighty. He instructed the Israelites on military conquests, partook in whole sale slaughter of children (passover), and even ordered genocide on occasion. Under His first covenant, we would be required to kill a good chunk of the females on the board, and all of our resident Pagans would be dead.

In contrast, Jesus is like the hippy flower child of the Bible, teaching that forgiveness and love is always the way. I'm sorry, but these two vastly different pictures of God just don't jive in my mind. Would someone be willing to educate this poor soul on the matter?
