with their legal handguns. And it makes them a bit harder to obtain for "entry-level" criminals, thus slowing them down. It's also a bonus that the police doesn't have to wait until the heavily-armed wild-eyed guy walking towards them starts to actively threaten them, making their jobs a little safer. But other than that, I have to agree, it's complete rubbish. Until someone invents a time machine and takes away all guns from circulation, gun control will always be ineffective.
