keeping a sachet-sized bag with a bit of the salt, incense ash and candle wax drippings from the ritual inside the car -- hang it from the rearview mirror -- and throw in a couple of protection-charged stones for travelers like tigers eye, carnelian, hematite and turquoise. A permanent all-purpose good mojo vehicle talisman, if you will. There is much to be said for protection rituals, and even more for rituals that are witnessed by superstitious folk.
