Land Use in Alaska by caffine-iv 2002-12-29 21:35:52
Do we have enough preserves, refuges, and park for you all now?

41% of my state is set aside to be protected, and cannot be used.

Another 40% (roughly) of my state is swampland, or mountain.

So we're all crammed into 19% or 20% of the state, and we're no longer able to build an industry.

I'll say again, either we need to lock this state up, do a government funded evacuation of all of it's inhabitants, and declare the whole thing a national park.. or we need to shoot the environmentalists in the head.

I'm for either one, but sitting here stagnant is simply stupid.

As for whoever it was telling me we need to attract more educated people up here in order to build an industry.. Alaska has hte highest percentage of college educated people than any other state in the Union. People with college degrees and experience are working at high class areas such as Subway or Taco Bell, while the inexperienced class of worked (educated or not) work at the lowly McDonalds or BurgerKing.
