Check both the long cables on the working computer. See if that works. If it does, it's your NIC.
Next, unplug the first computer, and plug the second one it, does it get an IP?
Thirdly, what IP does the first one have? Does is start with 192.168.xxx.xxx? If it doesn't, you probably have DHCP server in the router turned off, and maybe the first is using the broadband's WAN IP. If this is the case, fire up the DHCP and get them both LAN IPs and the router should use the WAN IP. Double check and make sure it's a router, not a hub. |
