Friend of mine just got broadband setup in his place. We got one of the computers up and running. The second computer is a HP pavilion 6470z. I popped in this NIC. Here's where it get odd (for me at least) The second computer is about 70' from the router so I made a cable for it. All the settings on the HP are identical to the computer that is working but it can't get a IP address from the router. When the HP is plugged into the short wire the NIC lights up but still cannot get a ip. On the long wire the NIC doesn't light up. I was thinking I made a bad wire so I made a second on and got the same results. The HP is all googly-whompus and I'm running out of ideas as to what to check. Anyone got a idea?
