My two fave subjects. Bush and Religion! by Blackbyrd22006-11-19 12:55:59
  Y'know, I do NOT agree with Bush's quote, by adiplomat2002-12-27 21:31:34
    Atheism is not a religion. (n/t) by Blackbyrd22006-11-19 12:55:59
Wow, talk about an inaccurate n/t... by dopple2002-12-27 22:08:45
Actually, it was unintentional, by Blackbyrd2 2002-12-27 22:51:07
but I have a long history of putting text in my n/t posts. (Mostly though, they are nonsense bits, seldom of any actual value.)

I disagree with the comment that atheism is a religion though. If I do not believe that the Greek Gods were real, that does not qualify as a religion, does it? The lack of belief in Zeus does not constitute a religion, in my book. Nor does the lack of belief in any other particular deity constitute a religion.

I do agree with your position on the rights granted under the US Constitution. Freedom of religion should be interpreted to mean the freedom to believe or not believe as you see fit without fear of persecution. That isn't exactly what it says, but I think that is what most people believe it means.

For the record, I am not an atheist, though I am probably as close to it as you can get in a rational being. I don't believe in an interested deity.
