This is the first I've heard from him on this sort of stuff. Personally, I think the media should have been bringing Strom Thurmond politics out in the open more instead of crucifying Lott for this. I don't think that (based on the single event that I have recently witnessed, since I don't have any info on other statements) Lott did more than say a nice thing about a politician (which is a hard thing to do in the best of circumstances).
