I never questioned his intelligence. Yours, however... I postulated that English was not his native language because of his mistakes. That is an 's' on the word mistake. Plural. More than one. Not just a typo. Get it now? I further indicated that his misunderstanding of the question would be understandable if my guess was correct. But if he _is_ a native speaker, then he will no longer be spared the rightful ridicule that, for example, you would receive if you made an equally stupid comment. Because for you to make it would require genuine stupidity. Not that I don't think you're up to the challenge, mind you. I have every confidence in you.
