"So?" by itself is typically offered in a sneering, almost demeaning tone, with that same meaning behind it. It's right up there with "And we should care...why?" and "Your post was wholly unimportant and uncalled for."
Imagine this. You tell someone that you've just qualified for the male figure-skating US Olympics team. This is quite the accomplishment for you, something that you've dreamed of your entire skating life. You tell someone this, and they respond with "So?" What sort of reaction do you think that implies? Isn't it, at the very least, a smartass thing to say?
Yeah, we'll all agree that ozanbaba doesn't exactly have the strongest grasp of the English language. It still came across as rude, even if it wasn't intended that way.
Had the post had some text to it, it'd have likely been perceived differently. |
