BIOS Update by Spisefisken2002-12-27 06:20:31
newer bios is not always better by leibold 2002-12-27 13:42:28
Especially considering that "better" is very subjective. For the person that wants maximum reliability a bios upgrade that sets some bus timings more conservatively would be indeed an improvement. However for the person that doesn't care about anything but maximum performance the same bios upgrade would be bad. Unfortunately bios upgrades tend to be poorly labelled as to the exact nature of their contents.
My recommendation is to always keep a copy of your original bios (preferably on that same dos bootable floppy Freakazoid already suggested). This will hopefully allow you to get back to normal if the upgrade doesn't work out.
