There is no need to believe in such things, so there is no need to replace them if they don't exist.

First of all, I am at least smart enough to know that I will never be "reasonably assured there would be no reprecussions". You cannot make up a scenario that I am supposed to treat as a real life scenario where I would accept such a condition.

If we are just making stuff up for the sake of argument, sure you can postulate that. But if we are trying to model the real world, then heck no.

Same reason I still stop at a four way stop in the middle of nowhere when I can see all four directions and nobody is around. I'm not "reasonably" sure there will be no repurcussions to blowing thru the stop.
