The people without class AND without money are worse. Reminds me of an anecdote. I was hiking in the Saas valley in Switserland. At the end of the valley, there's a dam with a maintenance road along the lake. Closed for tourists by a gate; you can hike all you want, but you're not taking your car back there. Enter a pink-with-white Suzuki Vitara with a flashy jogging-suit wearing punk and a blonde-dyed puppy-wielding gum-chewing silicone enhanced broad and far too loud thumping music. Drive right past the gate onto the maintenance road and start honking their horn and roaring their engine at any hiker who happened to be in their way...
...except the group of eight people I was in, who took their ice axes off their backpacks. They patiently rode the trail behind us at slow pace, cursing all the way. I was overcome by an intense feeling of having done the right thing :). |
