Still, gotta keep those users in check.
Otherwise, you end up with ALL your server space maxed out, and no room to expand any more.
Heck, keeping those stupid user profiles clean off all their Temporary Internet Folders cache crap is tough enough.
Can't get away with roaming profiles, since the thin clients we use and the frame relay links aren't hefty enough for that, even stripped.
And you would NOT believe the id10ts that try to send a whole CD they ripped back out to their hotmail/yahoo/freebie accounts. Oh, and after the first attempt to send the whole 65MB package fails, they try to send each mp3 separately, never figuring out that each 3.5MB song is 1.5MB over thier whole limit. Then, they think its something I am doing to block them, so they try yet again to send this stuff, renaming each song to <drivel>.mp2
Then the HellDesk gets the call from thier manager.
PHB: "Is there something wrong with Outlook today?"
HellDesk: "I'll transfer you to the Admin" (perhaps the HellDesk should learn the phrase "What is wrong?")
PHB: "Is the mail server broke?"
SysAngel: "Why do you ask?"
PHB: "Because I can't send e-mail to Asuk. I tried 10 times, it still doesn't work!"
SysAngel: "Does the error report state 'unable take delivery of this message'?"
PHB: "I don't know, I deleted them"
After investigating PHB deleted items folder (hasn't been emptied since 1998), and Asuk's mailbox.
SysAngel: "Asuk is over his mailbox limits, that is why you can't send him any e-mails. He will have to remove some unnecessary e-mails and/or run the archive program to clear up some room."
PHB: "Can't you just remove the limits for Asuk?"
SysAngel" "Sure, as soon as you sign a purchase requisition for those 10 new 143GB SCSI drives, a new RAID controller, and the external RAID enclosure. The current 73GB drives and internal drive bays are at maximum capacity."
PHB: "Nevermind"
Asuk: "Can I get my mailbox limits increased"
HellDesk: "Sure"
