I don't trust ANYONE with nukes by sysangel 2002-12-27 10:35:15

least of all the US government. I spent 6 years in the USAF, in those Great Missile Fields, I mean Great Plain States like North Dakota, Montana, etc. True, I helped train aircrews in electronic countermeasures(ECM), ECCM, and precision radar bomb scoring. So I know how good those pilots carrying the nukes were. I just don't trust the damn politicians on any side, from just using them as negotiation tactics as opposed to actually setting one off.

The scary things like Hiroshima and Nagasaki were little daydreams compared to the nightmare of today's multi-megaton devices.

I am sure I am not the first to tender this idea, but here goes. We make a deal with every nuclear capable country, or wannabe. For every nuke you let the US buy from you and destroy, we'll destroy one of ours. Demonstrably, verifiable. North Korea wants oil, you get oil, world loses 2 nukes. Russia needs grain, we'll ship you a whole fleet for 3 of your nukes, and the world is better off without those 6 nukes.

Do the same thing for every ton of biochemical crap on every side. Pretty soon, the world might be a safer place.
